More World Cup watch parties planned by Republic FC, at historic Sacramento venue

Sacramento Republic FC on Wednesday announced it will host two more free watch parties as the host nations advanced the World Cup advance to the Round of 32.

The local pro soccer team will be staging events at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1, for the Mexico and United States in their respective knockout matches.

The team said both events are free and open to all ages, but with tickets required for entry from SacSoccerGuide.com.

The Memorial Auditorium, located downtown at 1515 J St., is one of Sacramento’s most historic entertainment venues, first opening in 1926 and hosting concerts for acts including the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Metallica, the Doors and others.

Mexico, the winner of Group A, will be playing at 6 p.m. Pacific time next Tuesday against a third-place finisher from Group C, E, F, H or I at the famous Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

The U.S. will play 5 p.m. the following day at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara against a third-place finisher from Group B, E, F, I or J after winning Group D. The match-ups will be finalized following the conclusion of group play this Saturday.
