Bee’s best quarterback poll winner: Capital Christian’s Anthony Garcia

Anthony Garcia grew up around football, the son of a quarterback.

Now a junior at Capital Christian High School, Garcia is preparing for a spring season after a winter club session, meaning another season playing for his father, Aaron Garcia, an assistant coach and Capital’s athletic director.

A 6-foot-3, 170-pound three-star prospect by 247sports, Garcia also has a following. He won The Bee’s Best voting poll for the people’s choice on the Sacramento-region’s top quarterback. Garcia finished with 42.4 percent of the vote, Sean Nixon of Sheldon had 37.2 percent and Martin Haswell of Placer had 11.6 percent.

Garcia’s dad set regional passing marks that stood for years while at Grant in 1987, later playing at Washington State, Sacramento State and setting marks in Arena Football.

Capital Christian is ranked No. 9 by The Bee for the spring season. The Cougars are schedule to open at No. 5 Cosumnes Oaks on March 26.
