Bee’s Best: Woodcreek’s Austin Ito wins weekly Prep of Week honor

Austin Ito comes to play, every night.

The Woodcreek High School junior guard leads the Timberwolves of Roseville in scoring, averaging 16.6 points, and he was never hotter and more on target than on Jan. 22.

Ito went for a career-best 38 points, including seven 3-pointers and making all seven of his free throws, in a shootout effort against Antelope. The Titans prevailed in the Capital Valley Conference game 78-75, but Ito won a measure of fun regardless, earning Bee Prep of the Week honors through fan voting with more than 21,000 votes.

Ito has also had games of 25 points against Oak Ridge and 24 against Bella Vista. Woodcreek needs every bit of his scoring as the Timberwolves are 8-12 and in fifth place in the deep CVC that is topped by Bee No. 1 Inderkum, Antelope, Bella Vista and Roseville.
