Bee’s Best: Ponderosa’s Bliss wins fan vote for area’s top basketball player

Aaron Bliss won this week’s fan vote for the Sacramento-area MVP of the high school boys’ basketball season, edging out Elk Grove star Ameere Britton in fan voting. Bliss finished with 49% of the vote while Britton nabbed 31%; nobody else had a double-digit percentage of the votes.

The Bee’s All-Metro team and official Player of the Year story, chosen by Bee staff, will run in the coming weeks.

Bliss turned heads his senior season, the 6-foot-10 Bruins star showcasing versatility and leadership as a driving force behind a 27-0 regular season. The forward/center averaged 15.1 points and a Sac-Joaquin Section-leading 13.5 rebounds and 4.6 blocked shots a game for the best Ponderosa team in school history. The school opened in Shingle Springs in 1963.
