Bee Best: Stephen Dahdou of Pleasant Grove clears hurdles to prep of the week win
If Stephen Dahdouh keeps this up, he’s going to wind up clearing more than hurdles this track and field season.
The Pleasant Grove High School junior has steadily whittled down his times in the 110-meter high hurdles, including setting a personal-best time of 15.26 seconds in the prestigious Arcadia Invitational on April 9.
That was good for the fastest time of any athlete in the Sac-Joaquin Section in that race that weekend. He has the top times in that race in the Delta League. The PR also landed Dahdouh as this week’s Bee Prep of the Week through fan voting.
He garnered nearly 26,000 votes in the poll.
Dahdouh opened the season with a 16.23 time in the Glenn Poole Invitational on Feb. 26, got down to 15.69 at the Wolf Pack Relays on March 12, then to 15.64 at the Thunder Invitational on March 26, then to 15.48 at the Stanford Invitational on April 2 before his Arcadia effort.
He is the second-fastest area runner in the 110 hurdles behind Isaiah Earls of Woodcreek (14.86). Dahdouh also competes in the 300 hurdles with a best of 40.69, the 400 hurdles with a best of 58.16, and he runs legs on the 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 relays.
