Bee’s Best: Carter Jackson of Granite Bay wins Prep of Week poll
Carter Jackson had himself a day last Friday.
The sophomore running back from Granite Bay High School rushed for 297 yards and four touchdowns had 80 yards receiving to lead the charge in a 45-36 victory over Vista del lago.
Carter then thanked his fullback Bryce Bogne and linemen Talae Tuimauenei, Kam Kaminski, Jack Blackburn, Zaire Collier and Jack Ferguson for their role in his big role. Jackson won The Bee’s weekly Prep of the Week poll, garnering more than 21,000 votes in a poll that took in 71,000 total votes.
Jackson, a burner at 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds with rising national recruiting interest, had 382 yards of all-purpose yards, breaking the school record of 343 by Matt Line in 2009 against Roseville. The Granite Bay record for yards rushing in a game is 319 by Ryan Kirby against Oak Ridge in 2001, according to former Granite Bay coach Ernie Cooper.
Carter opened this season with 122 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 34-12 victory at Elk Grove. He had 132 and two against Davis in a 74-6 victory and then went off against Vista del Lago. On Friday against Spanish Springs of Nevada, Carter scored three touchdowns, giving him 10 on the season for the 4-0 Grizzlies.
