Bee’s Best: Sac Adventist volleyball, Sutter football star win Prep of Week polls

The efforts of the entire Sacramento Adventist Academy High School volleyball team and the contributions of a key player for the unbeaten Sutter Huskies football team led to a triumphant showing in the polls.

The Capitals girls team and Luke Miller of the Sutter Huskies won the voting for The Bee’s weekly Prep of the Week honor for girls and boys.

The Sacramento Adventist volleyball team is 18-2 overall and 7-0 in the Sacramento Metropolitan League.

The team is led by captains Sophie Burger and Charis Kim. The rest of the roster: Tamara Andelkovic, Violet Blum, Makensei Burgess, Jia Dickson, Hailey Holden, Avery Janke, Siena Misca, Sarai Nicacio, Edith Overton, Bella Plesea, Erin and Gwen Rosich, Ava Spencer and Destiny Villasenor.

Miller powered Sutter past Bear River 48-7 in a Pioneer Valley League game by rushing nine times for 110 yards and three touchdowns. He caught two passes for 43 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies moved to 7-0 entering Friday’s game against Center.
