Friday night’s scores and next week’s schedule for Sacramento-area high school football

Friday night marked the fourth week of the high school football season in the Sacramento area, gone in a heat flash.

The first weeks were nonleague games. Next week is the start of league play for most of the 100 regional schools in The Sacramento Bee’s immediate coverage area.

The biggest game Friday included two of the smallest schools in The Bee’s Top 25 rankings, as the Bradshaw Christian Pride of south Sacramento hosted the Sutter Huskies, who made the 90-minute drive to block and tackle. The Bee was there.

A grudge match showdown in Orangevale pitted ranked teams as the host Casa Roble Rams played the Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos of Lincoln. Casa Roble beat 12B in a thrilling CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship game last fall. The Bee was there Friday.

Also, the Franklin Wildcats of Elk Grove played the Davis Blue Devils in what used to be a Delta League contest. Franklin entered the game seeking to equal its victory total of the previous three years combined. The Bee was there.

On Saturday night at Hughes Stadium, ranked teams and rivals since 1969, Christian Brothers and Jesuit will meet. The Bee will be there, too.
