Friday night’s scores and next week’s schedule for Sacramento-area high school football

The second week of league play for Sacramento-area high school for the Sacramento area kicked off on Friday night to cap another warm week as the action heated up in the season’s fifth week.

The games included:

The Nevada Union Miners of Grass Valley visiting the Del Campo Cougars in Fair Oaks in a showdown of 4-1 teams in Foothill Valley League play coached by longtime pals, Matt Costa of DC and Brad Sparks of NU. The Bee was there.

In Placer County in a showdown of Top 10 Bee-ranked teams, the Oak Ridge Trojans of El Dorado Hills visited the Granite Bay Grizzlies in a Sierra Foothill League contest with GB looking to remain unbeaten overall and OR seeking to win their second consecutive game. The Bee was there.

In the Elk Grove Unified School District, Laguna Creek played Franklin in Delta League play at Cosumnes River College. This is the 30th year for Laguna Creek. The Bee was there.

In Grass Valley and Lake of the Pines, the host Bear River Bruins welcomed the upstart Oakmont Vikings of Roseville in a Pioneer Valley League contest of 3-1 teams. The Bee was there.
