Friday night’s scores and next week’s schedule for Sacramento-area high school football

The Sacramento-area high school football scene is suddenly in the final stretch. Friday marked the ninth week of the regular season with one more to go before the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs kick off on Nov. 8.

League races are still on the line, and those not in the title hunt are scrambling for a playoff spot or playoff positioning.

The Bee covered three games on Friday and will cover one Saturday:

The Marysville Indians played the Oakmont Vikings in Roseville with Pioneer Valley League championship implications on the line. What’s more, both teams have bounced back from losing seasons in 2023. How did they do it?

The top-ranked Folsom Bulldogs played at Jesuit, under the new lights. We know about star quarterback Ryder Lyons of Folsom, but who are the running backs and unsung leaders, and can Jesuit stage a stunner?

The Sheldon Huskies played the Laguna Creek Cardinals in a Delta League contest at Cosumnes River College, both teams needing wins to secure a playoff spot. What’s more, Sheldon was without beloved coach Chris Nixon, four team captains, other players and the entire varsity coaching staff.
