Jaiden Sahota scored a game-high 25 points, and the top-seeded Stone Ridge Christian Knights of Merced repeated as Division VI boys champion in holding off the No. 2-seeded Sacramento Waldorf Waves at Golden 1 Center.

Stone Ridge (23-8) won its 19th consecutive game despite playing without perhaps its best player. Junior guard Daijon O’Neil was ejected from a semifinal win over Elite of Vallejo for an elbow incident. The appeal to the governing body CIF on Wednesday was not successful, so, by rule, O’Neil could not play Thursday.

Waldorf (27-3) had its 22-game winning streak halted, and classy coach Dean Stark was left with his sixth runner-up plaque during a remarkable career that includes a section-best 700-plus victories.

Waldorf reached section title games in 1991, 1992, 2016, 2017 and 2023.

Liam Mason-Mellberg scored 17 for Waldorf and Malachi Miranda had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams advance to the CIF Northern California tournament that starts next week.
