As the high school football prepares to kick off on a sweltering Friday night, The Sacramento Bee rolls out it cool-as-ice preseason All-Metro team.

All of this is subject to change over the course of the season, of course, as The Bee factors in team playoff success in the playoffs, when the games count the most.

It should come as no surprise that The Bee’s top two highest ranked teams — Folsom and Grant — landed the most players on this list. There could have been even more, as Folsom has 18 players who have Division I scholarship football offers and Grant has 14.

The Bee also acknowledges the small-school players, including national recruit defensive end Troy Bowens of the Sutter Huskies.

For now, this is how we size up the top players.
