The third week of the high school football season in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section included nonleague action that stretched all the way to Southern California, and The Sacramento Bee’s top two ranked teams were hit with defeats.

No. 1 Folsom hit the road and faced the No. 3-ranked team in Southern California behind national No. 1 Mater Dei and Bosco, dropping a 53-14 game at Mission Viejo in Orange County. It was billed as the state game of the week with both teams ranked in the state’s top five by Cal-Hi Sports.

In Santa Rosa, decades long North Coast Section power Cardinal Neman defeated No. 2 Grant, 15-7.
