The winning streak is now 11 for the McClatchy Lions.

Seeded second in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs, the Metro League champion Lions broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one in the sixth to eliminate the Oak Ridge Trojans of El Dorado Hills, 9-6, in a second-round game at McClatchy’s home park.

Carson Tozzi singled to center field to drive home Charlie Rios and Zevi Pruger to put McClatchy ahead 8-6 in the fifth inning, and Taylor Blaszczynski scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning as the Lions moved to 26-4 and to next week’s best-of-three semifinal round against defending D-I section champion and third-seeded Franklin of Elk Grove.

The opening game is Tuesday at McClatchy, with Game 2 set for Thursday, May 14, at Franklin. Game 3, if needed, is Friday, May 15.

Pruger, a catcher, had three hits for the Lions, who also received RBIs from leadoff hitter Antonio Barber, Ari Silva and Gabe Jones. Silva is McClatchy’s top hitter with a .439 average, and he is 9-0 on the mound with an 0.70 ERA. The senior ace is the likely starter on Tuesday against Franklin in a battle of coaches who have combined for more than 700 victories.

Franklin coach Bryan Kilby won his 300th game with the Wildcats earlier this season, and McClatchy coach Mike de Necochea won his 400th game in a regular-season finale.
