High school football roundup: Robards shines again for No. 3 Elk Grove

Ryan Robards rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns and returned an interception 20 yards for a score; Julius Fullah rushed for 129 yards and three scores and Daryn Menefee returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown as No. 3 Elk Grove rolled past host Yuba City 48-14 in a nonleague football game Friday night.

Elk Grove had 465 yards of offense.

Robards, who had 150 yards rushing and three first half touchdowns, was coming off a career performance last week in a 41-14 win over Lincoln of Stockton. He rushed for 277 yards and three touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass, had an interception, forced a fumble and booted two field goals, including a school record 51-yarder.

Reed 54, No. 5 Oak Ridge 42 in Sparks, Nev. – Notre Dame commit Ian Book completed 24 of 31 passes for 402 yards and five touchdowns, including four to Tommy Dunnigan, but it wasn’t enough to hold off their Nevada hosts. Oak Ridge (3-1) took a 42-41 lead on a Kevin Kassis scoring strike to Graves Mercado and Nick Hulsing PAT with 7:04 to play. But the Raiders (4-0) scored twice to put the game away. Jordan Carter rushed 26 times for 196 yards for Reed.

No. 6 Inderkum 57, Oakland Tech 12 in Natomas – Raekwon Turner ran for three touchdowns and the Tigers defense dominated again behind linebacker leader Derrick Henderson. Inderkum (4-0) led 50-6 at the half.

No. 9 Granite Bay 42, Vacaville 7 in Vacaville – Kyle Kraft threw four touchdown passes, including three to Scott Henrichs; Sam Cusano rushed for a six-yard touchdown and had an interception; Hunter Chattin rushed for a 40-yard score; and Ethan Milner blocked a field goal attempt to lead the Grizzlies (3-0) over the Bulldogs (1-2).

No. 12 Placer 50, Rio Americano 7 in Auburn – Morgan Rein-robinson rushed for three touchdowns; Owen Scott caught a 61-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Ante and rushed for a four-yard touchdown; and Andres Prieto had a 69-yard punt as the Hillmen (4-0) rolled over the Raiders (0-4).

Pleasant Valley 35, No. 17 River Valley 21 in Chico – Brandt Hughes threw three touchdowns and Ryan Busby had a touchdown catch and interception as the Vikings (4-0) defeated the Falcons (3-1).

Woodcreek 31, Ponderosa 13 in Shingle Springs – Matt Miller threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Kenny McGloan; Matthew Gordon threw a 28-yard scoring strike to Davion Andrews; and Anthony Mahr and Isaiah Ajayi rushed for touchdown as the Timberwolves (4-0) topped the Bruins (1-2).

Davis 36, Edison-Stockon 0 in Davis – Cole Morse rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Jack Beckman to lead the Blue Devils (2-1) over the Vikings (0-3). Jack Hoal had an interception to set up a nine-yard Morse TD run and also scored on a 25-yard pass from Beckman. Morse is the son of 1980s Davis running back star Marty Morse.

Nevada Union 35, Pioneer 12 in Woodland – Tyler Nielson rushed for 13-yard and one-yard touchdowns and caught a 35-yard touchdown pass to lead the Miners (1-3) over the Patriots (1-3). Drew Heaps’ fumble recovery and Kase Scott’s interception helped set up two of Nielson’s touchdowns. Justin Houlihan and Owen Day also had rushing touchdowns for Nevada Union.

Vista del Lago 34, Bradshaw Christian 14 at Folsom HS – Junior Brent Schaeffer threw four touchdown passes and Ney Vencer returned an interception 12 yards for a touchdown to lead the Eagles (2-2) over the Lions (3-1).

Golden Sierra 31, Colfax 28 in Garden Valley – Jeff Gale returned a fumble 52 yards for a touchdown and Reily Prine rushed for a 41-yard touchdown to lead the small school Grizzlies (2-1) to the upset of the Falcons (1-3). It was Golden Sierra’s first win over Colfax since 1996. Austin Weir threw three touchdown passes, including an 80-yarder to Spencer Gutierrez, for Colfax (1-3).

Marysville 26, Oroville 12 in Marysville – Cornell Greenwood returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown and Taryn Dolan had a 26-yard interception for a score to lead the Indians (4-0) over the Tigers (0-3). Marysville had four interceptions and Greenwood also recovered a fumble. It marks the first time the Indians have started 4-0 since 1967.

Calaveras 28, Union Mine 21 in San Andreas – Anthony Giangregorio caught a 15-yard touchdown pass and rushed for a four-yard score to lead the Redskins (2-2) over the Diamondbacks (2-2). Brody Pearman rushed for touchdowns of 54 and 13 yards for Union Mine.

Oakmont 37, Casa Roble 15 in Roseville – Jake Knapp threw a 47-yard touchdown to Connor Gagain and Anthony Wiley rushed for a 48-yard touchdown as the Vikings (2-1) downed the Rams (1-3) on Homecoming.

El Camino 37, River City 12 in West Sacramento – Dale Armstrong rushed for 119 yards and two touchdown; Alberto Lara rushed or 110 yards on 11 carries; Ty Harkleroad had 12 tackles and the Eagles (2-2) forced seven turnovers in the win over the Raiders (1-3).
