Tyler Vander Waal can throw a football deep with touch and he can fire laser passes on the run.
What the Christian Brothers High School senior really likes most is throwing touchdown passes. He threw three of them – and ran for another score – in a 48-18 victory last Friday over Casa Roble in the Falcons’ seventh consecutive win.
For his effort, Vander Waal is The Bee’s Player of the Week, an honor earned through voting on sacbee.com.
Vander Waal looks forward to throwing more touchdown passes in the playoffs, where the Falcons will compete in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III field. Their seeding will be determined Friday when CBS (7-2) meets Vista del Lago (7-2) for the Capital Athletic League championship at Hughes Stadium.

Vander Waal will go against Eagles quarterback, Brent Schaeffer, who won Player of the Week honors earlier this season.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Ball State-bound Vander Waal has passed for 1,678 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He has not been intercepted since Sept. 30, going four games without a turnover. He had three interceptions against Jesuit in a 25-7 loss in the Holy Bowl as he and his teammates were finding their footing amid a challenging early-season schedule.
