Elk Grove High School tops The Bee’s first baseball and softball rankings.

Both teams have core players back and are expected to win Delta League championships and make another run at Sac-Joaquin Section titles.

The baseball team, 26-6 a year ago, is led by infielders Nick Madrigal and Carlos Moseley, outfielder/pitcher Ty Madrigal (Nick’s twin), ace Chris Martin and Dylan Carlson, son of longtime coach Jeff Carlson.

The softball team, 18-7 in 2014, features infielders Morgan Lamb, Miranda Miles and Miranda Rodriguez and outfielder Amber Wright.

Much like football and basketball, realignment has created a super league in baseball. The Delta League also includes defending section Division I champion and No. 3 Davis, No. 4 Jesuit, No. 5 Franklin, No. 6 Pleasant Grove, No. 18 Folsom and No. 20 Sheldon.

Davis is led by shortstop Ryan Kreidler and pitcher Kris Prince, Jesuit by pitcher/slugger Tanner Dodson, Franklin by four-year starting infielder Hank LoForte and Pleasant Grove by ace Dalton Gomez.

In softball, the Delta also includes No. 6 Pleasant Grove and rival No. 7 Sheldon.
