Two days after posting a wild elimination victory over Granite Bay by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, Davis High School baseball went with a more conventional victory route on Saturday afternoon against another Sierra Foothill League opponent.
Ryan Bell pitched 6 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out four, and Ian McIsaac roped a two-run double down the line to highlight a four-run fourth inning to propel the Blue Devils past Del Oro 5-1 in the double-elimination phase of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I North playoffs at Sacramento City College.
Davis (22-7) faces two-time defending champion Elk Grove on Tuesday night at Union Stadium in a meeting of Delta League rivals. Elk Grove swept Davis in two league meetings to win the league title.
Davis and Elk Grove are each 2-0 in this postseason. The winner Tuesday advances to Friday’s final at Sac City against the loser’s bracket survivor.

Jake Painter, Max Thompson and Nick Vogt each had an RBI for Davis, which stunned Granite Bay 15-14 on Thursday and celebrated with a dog pile.
Del Oro (18-12) on Monday plays SFL rival Oak Ridge in an elimination game at Sac City. Del Oro has already eliminated longtime power Jesuit and top-seeded Vacaville, and the Golden Eagles seek their first D-1 title after competing for years in Division I or D-II.
Davis won section titles in 2000, 2004 and 2014 under current coach Dan Ariola.
