The boys team at West Campus and the girls team at Inderkum can thank second chances for extending their basketball seasons.
Both teams lost in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, but all section semifinalists advance to the CIF Northern California playoffs to fill 16-team brackets. Now both are playing for NorCal championships Saturday after combining to go 6-0 since.
West (29-5) plays Palma of Salinas (25-4) at 4 p.m. in the Division IV championship at American Canyon High School in Napa County, followed by Inderkum (24-8) against Sacred Heart Cathedral of San Francisco (19-9) in Division III at 6 p.m.
After West Campus missed a jumper at the buzzer and lost 47-46 to Central Catholic of Modesto in the section Division IV championship at Sleep Train Arena, the players were devastated. But coach Fred Wilson reminded the Warriors their season wasn’t over.
