Whitney’s Justin Kraft is The Bee’s Football Player of the Week

JUSTIN KRAFT, WHITNEY HIGH SCHOOL

Justin Kraft pleased his coaches not just with his receptions last Friday during Whitney High School’s 33-0 victory over Davis.

He caught the attention of coach Paul Doherty because of his complete game, including blocking, defense and leadership. Kraft had 11 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns, made five tackles and had an interception. Kraft is The Bee’s Football Player of the Week, selected through voting on sacbee.com. More than 11,500 votes were cast after last weekend’s games.

Last season, Kraft had 59 receptions for 872 yards and 17 touchdowns. The junior leads Whitney, ranked 14th by The Bee, at No. 8 Granite Bay on Friday, with the Grizzlies eager to bounce back from their 28-10 season-opening loss to Jesuit.
