See Opening Day in West Sac, as fans show enthusiasm for city’s first pro team

After months of anticipation, Sutter Health Park started its first season as a shared venue as the Sacramento River Cats opened their season Friday at home against the Albuquerque Isotopes.

More than 8,000 fans attended to see the team’s 8-0 victory, according to the team. The series continues Saturday and Sunday.

On Monday, the West Sacramento ballpark will host the Athletics home opener. The busy park’s next day off is Thursday.
