Fight between intoxicated fans results in major injuries at Kings-Warriors game

One man suffered major injuries and another was arrested following a fight between two intoxicated fans of the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors during Friday’s game at Golden 1 Center, authorities said.

The fight occurred in the fourth quarter in the upper bowl seating area inside the arena, according to Kings officials. Police described the men as “opposing fans.”

One man pushed another man, who tumbled over a rail and fell more than 10 feet before landing headfirst on the concrete below, said Sgt. Vance Chandler, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department. Emergency workers took the victim to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition late Friday night, authorities said.

Douglas Zeidman, 39, was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. He was released Saturday.

“The safety and security of guests is our No. 1 priority,” the Kings said in a statement issued to The Bee. “We want to thank the police and EMS for their swift response and action.”
