Sacramento Kings

The Kings are inviting three other NBA teams to their arena for a summertime event

The Kings brought summer league basketball to Sacramento for the first time last year. The event was such a success it’s returning.

The Kings will host the California Classic from July 1-3 at Golden 1 Center. The event features six games between the Kings, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat in a showcase of rookies, sophomores and players shooting to make NBA and G League rosters.

An estimated 50,000 people attended the inaugural event last July.

“Last year proved to be a unique experience, with an emphasis on technology, entertainment, community and, of course, basketball,” Vivek Ranadive, Kings owner and chairman, said in a statement about the event. “We look forward to continuing to showcase the best Sacramento has to offer.”

Last year’s event marked the Kings playing debuts of Marvin Bagley III and Harry Giles III. The big men will be entering their second NBA season, so both are eligible for the upcoming roster.

The Kings, who went 1-2 last year, are hosting the same teams to the tournament that precedes the NBA’s big summer league slate in Las Vegas that runs July 5-15.

Season-ticket holders can purchase admission to the California Classic games beginning Tuesday, with tickets available to the general public Wednesday.

Rosters, entertainment, broadcast information and additional ticket options will be announced later. For more information, visit Kings.com/CAClassic.
