Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic out against Trail Blazers, but not because of hamstring
Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic will miss the first game of the team’s road trip, but not because of his injured hamstring.
Bogdanovic will be held out of Wednesday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to a right knee contusion, but the tightness he is experiencing in his left hamstring is improving, the team said. He will be listed as day-to-day as the Kings head to Texas to play the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.
Bogdanovic had his right knee wrapped in ice following a 113-106 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday at Golden 1 Center. The Kings are already missing point guard De’Aaron Fox, who will miss at least two more weeks with a grade-3 ankle sprain, and Marvin Bagley III, who is expected to return soon from a broken right thumb.
The Kings (8-11) will visit the Blazers (8-12) on Wednesday before continuing to Texas to face the San Antonio Spurs (7-14), Dallas Mavericks (13-6) and Houston Rockets (13-6).
Bogdanovic is averaging career highs of 14.8 points and 4.7 assists in 27.5 minutes per game off the Kings’ bench. He suffered the hamstring injury in a 120-116 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 19. He felt tightness in the hamstring and left the game late in the fourth quarter after posting a career-high 31 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 shooting from 3-point range.
Bogdanovic missed the following game against the Brooklyn Nets but came back two days later against the Washington Wizards. In five games after his return, he made 27 of 76 (.355) field-goal attempts and 11 of 41 (.268) from 3-point range.
