Sick burn: Houston Rockets roast Kings on Twitter after avenging buzzer-beating loss

The Houston Rockets took to Twitter on Monday to poke fun at the Kings following a 113-104 victory at Golden 1 Center. The tweet was in response to one the Kings’ social media account posted after Sacramento’s win Dec. 9 in Houston.

The Kings social media team is widely regarded as one of the best in the business, but they took a loss on Twitter after the Houston Rockets left Golden 1 Center with a 113-104 victory on Monday night.

The Rockets roasted the Kings in a retaliatory move after the Kings took to Twitter to celebrate a dramatic victory in Houston earlier this month. Nemanja Bjelica buried a 33-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Rockets 119-118 on Dec. 9 at Toyota Center and then went on television to say: “F--- it. We deserve this win.”

The Kings social media squad dropped a bomb of its own after the game, poking fun at the Rockets for filing a protest over their double-overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs six days earlier. The Kings official Twitter account tweeted: “Protest that. #KingsFTW.”

Translation: Kings for the win.

The Rockets got their revenge Monday night after James Harden scored 34 points to lead his team to victory in Sacramento. They created a short video featuring an image of Golden 1 Center and the unveiling of a banner with a Kings logo reading: “2019-20 regular season buzzer beater.”

Teams don’t hang banners to commemorate regular-season victories, but the Kings haven’t had much to celebrate since they made their last playoff appearance in 2006.

The Kings had no choice but to accept the loss on Twitter, replying: “well played. gg (good game) @HoustonRockets.”
