NBA fines Warriors coach Steve Kerr for profane tirade in game against Kings
The NBA fined Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr $25,000 on Wednesday for his outburst during Monday’s 111-98 loss to the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
Kerr was ejected late in the first half following a basket by Warriors center Willie Cauley-Stein. Kerr apparently believed Cauley-Stein had been fouled. He was also upset that officials counted a basket by Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox at the other end of the floor.
Kerr stormed onto the court to confront referee Jason Goldenberg with a profane tirade.
“Wake your a-- up! Wake your a-- up! Let’s go! Wake up! Wake up! Wake the f--- up!”
Kerr received two technical fouls, earning an ejection. He eventually left the floor, slapping hands with his players as he made his way back to the locker room.
The NBA fined Kerr for “verbally abusing a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection,” NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki VanDeWeghe said in a news release.
Maybe it’s something about Sacramento. He was also fined $25,000 in 2017 after storming the court with a profane tirade.
