Marvin Bagley III, Richaun Holmes, Lauri Markkanen out for Kings’ game against Bulls

The Kings will be shorthanded again when they face the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, but the Bulls have some growing injuries woes of their own.

Coach Luke Walton said center Richaun Holmes and forward Marvin Bagley III will be out again when the Kings (15-29) visit the Bulls (17-29) at the United Center in Chicago. Holmes will miss his eighth consecutive game due to a right shoulder injury. Bagley will be out for the second game in a row with a sore left foot.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday afternoon that Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen will be out four to six weeks with a stress reaction of his right pelvis. Markkanen is averaging 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds this season. The Bulls are already missing Wendell Carter Jr., who has a sprained ankle, and Otto Porter Jr., who has a broken foot.

Holmes and Bagley both attended the Kings morning shootaround in Chicago on Friday, but neither participated. Bagley is experiencing residual soreness following his recent return from a sprained left foot.

Walton said Bagley was wearing the boot as a precautionary measure, adding there are no signs of a new injury.

“He’s not going to play, so let’s do everything we can to get his foot to calm down as quickly as possible,” Walton said. “It’s nothing new.”

Holmes is still working his way back from a shoulder injury he suffered in a Jan. 6 game against the Golden State Warriors.

“He’s getting closer, but he’s not doing any contact, no basketball stuff with the guys yet,” Walton said. “He is getting closer. He is getting better, but we still have to give him a good solid practice before we get him out there once he gets cleared to do that.”
