Here’s how rival Kings plan to honor life and legacy of NBA legend Kobe Bryant
The Kings will join teams throughout the league in honoring the life and legacy of NBA legend Kobe Bryant this week when they play the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Center.
The Kings will air a special tribute video followed by a 24-second moment of silence prior to their game against the Thunder on Wednesday. They will have an additional in-game tribute video during the first quarter.
The Kings will also air an in-game video tribute to Bryant during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Lakers, the only team Bryant played for during his illustrious 20-year career. The Kings have announced plans to construct an art installation in the plaza outside the Grand Entrance to the arena, where fans will be invited to leave notes and flowers.
Bryant died along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others when their helicopter crashed Sunday in Calabasas. Bryant was an 18-time All-Star, a five-time NBA champion and a former league MVP. He was also a noted rival of the Kings, who clashed with the Lakers in the playoffs three times from 2000-02, including a memorable seven-game series in the 2002 Western Conference Finals.
