Kings center Richaun Holmes is hoping to return from a shoulder injury sometimes next week, but forward Marvin Bagley III won’t be back until after the All-Star break, the team said.

The Kings provided medical updates for both players before their game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night at Staples Center. Neither player accompanied the team to Los Angeles.

Holmes has been out since sustaining an injury to his right shoulder joint in a game against the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 6. He has missed the past 10 games. The Kings explained that Holmes did not travel to Los Angeles due to illness.

Holmes is expected to resume treatment for his injury in the coming days with the hope that he will soon be cleared for full-contact basketball activities. He could return to game action as soon as next week, the team said.

Holmes is averaging 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds. The Kings have missed his energy, athleticism and defensive presence.

The news regarding Bagley was not as encouraging. The Kings said Bagley met with a foot specialist who confirmed that he aggravated the midfoot sprain he originally suffered in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on De. 26. He will be reevaluated in three weeks, the team said.

Bagley missed eight games with the initial injury. He has missed five games since soreness set in following a game against the Miami Heat on Jan. 20.

The Kings said Bagley remained in Sacramento to continue his treatment and conditioning regimen. Further updates regarding his return to basketball activities will be provided as appropriate, the team said.

Bagley is averaging 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds. He has appeared in only 13 games this season.
