All-Star Weekend: Kings guard Buddy Hield gets another shot at NBA 3-point contest
Kings guard Buddy Hield will compete in the 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend again this year.
Hield has accepted an invitation to participate in the event for the second year in a row, league sources told The Sacramento Bee, confirming a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. According to the same report, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks have also agreed to participate. Defending champion Joe Harris of the New Jersey Nets and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks have yet to accept invitations.
The 3-Point Contest will be held Feb. 15 in Chicago. Hield is averaging 20.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He is shooting 37.3 percent from 3-point range, down from 42.7 percent last season, but he is second in the league in 3-point goals, trailing only James Harden of the Houston Rockets. He finished behind Harris and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry last year in Charlotte.
Hield made a franchise-record 278 3-pointers in 2018-19, becoming the first player in league history to make 600 over his first three NBA seasons.
