New father: Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t play against Kings after 1st son is born
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
Antetokounmpo was earlier listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Kings at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee due to personal reasons. That’s because he became a father Monday. Antetokounmpo tweeted a photo of Liam Charles Antetokounmpo at 1:30 p.m. PST Monday. The Kings were slated to play the Bucks at 5 p.m. PST.
Antetokounmpo and his girlfriend, Mariah Danae Riddlesprigger, were expecting their first child. Riddlesprigger revealed the pregnancy in October when she posted a photo on Instagram with a stuffed baby deer toy, a baby-sized Antetokounmpo jersey and the words: “BABY FR34K COMING SOON.”
On Sunday, Antetokounmpo posted a video on TikTok of himself and Riddlesprigger at a hospital. He was smiling. She was wearing a hospital gown. The caption read: “Playing the waiting game …”
Antetokounmpo, the NBA’s reigning MVP, is averaging 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Bucks (45-7), who have the best record in the NBA. The Kings (21-31) suffered a 127-106 loss to the Bucks on Jan. 10 in Sacramento. Antetokounmpo had a rather quiet night, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, but he might not have as many quiet nights in the future with a new baby in the house.
