The Sacramento Kings waived 34-year-old forward Anthony Tolliver on Saturday, the team said in a news release.

The Kings traded for Tolliver in a January deal that shipped Kent Bazemore and Tolliver to the Kings in exchange for Trevor Ariza. Tolliver played with the Kings in 2016-17 as well. His minutes dropped to from about 17 a game with the Trail Blazers to about 9 a game with the Kings as Sacramento has a logjam of big men. He averaged just a point a game with the Kings.

The move allows Tolliver to join a playoff contender that might have more need for a big man. He has been a good locker room presence with the Kings. Bazemore has flourished in Sacramento, averaging 24.7 minutes, 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in his last 10 games.

Sacramento hosts Detroit on Sunday with playoff hopes on life support for the Kings as they trail the No. 8 seed by three games with 23 left to play and a bevy of teams in the hunt.
