Kings show no coronavirus symptoms, but team activities suspended amid NBA shutdown

The Kings have suspended all team activities and asked players to stay home as much as possible over the next few days after the NBA postponed its season due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Thursday that games will be suspended for a minimum of 30 days after Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell tested positive for the coronavirus. No Kings players have experienced symptoms of the virus, but the organization will proceed cautiously in the days and weeks ahead.

All team activities are suspended until Monday and players are being asked to stay home as much as possible during that time at the direction of the league, team medical staff, local public health officials and infectious disease specialists. The Kings said their players will remain in the Sacramento area and will not participate in group workouts or practices.

“We remain in constant communication with the league and a wide range of local and national experts,” the Kings said in a statement. “Together, we will continue to make informed decisions based on their research, data and input. The team will continue to work with the league on the next steps of this unprecedented and fluid situation.”
