NBA admits officials missed ‘game-changer’ call in Sacramento Kings’ loss to Atlanta Hawks
The NBA admitted officials missed a crucial call in the Kings’ 108-102 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night at Golden 1 Center.
According to the Last 2 Minute Report, Hawks guard Delon Wright should have been called for a foul on De’Aaron Fox with 25.7 seconds remaining. The report notes that Wright “swipes down and initiates contact with Fox’s left elbow during his upward shooting motion.”
Fox said Wright “definitely hit my elbow” and “non-calls like that, I think, definitely change the game.” The Kings were trailing 103-101 at the time. Fox finished with 30 points, scoring 12 points over the final 4:29 to give the Kings a chance to win.
“I got to the same spot four or five times in a row and I don’t know if they thought I just decided to air ball that time or not,” Fox said. “Definitely a game-changer because we were down two at that time.”
The Kings were forced to take a foul when Fox’s shot came up short, sending Kevin Huerter to the line for two free throws that put the Hawks up by four with 21.6 seconds to play.
