Kings gameday live: Holmes, Metu still in COVID-19 protocols as Kings visit Denver Nuggets
The Kings expect to be without forward Chimezie Metu and center Richaun Holmes again when they open a quick two-game road trip against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night at Ball Arena.
Holmes and Metu are still out due to NBA health and safety protocols. Holmes has missed the past three games since entering the league’s protocol system. Metu has missed the past two games.
The Kings (16-24) are coming off back-to-back losses to the Lakers and Hawks despite two 30-point games from point guard De’Aaron Fox.
The Nuggets (18-18) have also lost two in a row. They suffered a 103-89 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday before falling 115-109 to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
Aaron Gordon and Bones Hyland are recovering from non-COVID-19-related illnesses, but both are listed as probable for Friday’s game against the Kings. Jeff Green and Zeke Nnaji are questionable due to health and safety protocols. Jamal Murray (knee) has yet to appear in a game this season and Michael Porter Jr (back) has been out since early November.
New Nugget in protocols
Nuggets forward Petr Cornelie has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Kings after entering NBA health and safety protocols.
Cornelie has appeared in only 13 games this season. He is averaging 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds.
