Kings center Richaun Holmes is expected to return to the lineup soon after missing much of the past seven weeks due to injuries, illness and NBA health and safety protocols.

Holmes was initially listed as doubtful for Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets at Golden 1 Center, but he has been upgraded to questionable since clearing health and safety protocols earlier this week. Tristan Thompson is also listed as questionable with a non-COVID-19 illness and Damian Jones is out due to health and safety protocols.

The Kings (17-27) are coming off a 125-116 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Rockets (12-31) come to town for a two-game set in Sacramento after beating the San Antonio Spurs 128-124 on Wednesday.

Holmes has missed the past seven games under the league’s protocol system. He missed three games in late November due to an eye injury and a non-COVID-19 illness. He missed seven games in mid-December after suffering another eye injury that required surgery. In all, Holmes has missed 17 of the past 26 games dating back to Nov. 24. The Kings went 6-11 in those games.
