Kings guard Terence Davis out indefinitely with injury after hard fall in loss to Celtics
Kings guard Terence Davis could miss significant time after suffering head and wrist injuries in Tuesday’s loss to the Boston Celtics.
The Kings announced prior to Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks that Davis will be out indefinitely with an ECU tendon injury in his right wrist. An X-ray taken Tuesday night in Boston was negative for a wrist fracture, but an MRI in Atlanta on Wednesday morning revealed tendon damage. The team said Davis also received six stitches to repair a laceration above his right eye.
Davis suffered the injuries on a driving layup with 6:28 to play in the second quarter of a 128-75 loss to the Celtics. He went down hard under the basket after being fouled by Aaron Nesmith. Davis stayed in the game to shoot the free throw after trainers bandaged the cut above his right eye, but he was quickly subbed out and sent to the locker room for further evaluation and treatment.
Davis, 24, is averaging 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in his fourth season out of Ole Miss. He was an NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection in 2020 after signing with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent. The Kings acquired him at the NBA trade deadline in March 2021. He re-signed with Sacramento over the summer, agreeing to a two-year, $8 million deal.
