1. Phoenix Suns (38-9)
Last week: 1
The Suns won’t have a starter in the 71st NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, but they have the best team in the league. Phoenix has won eight in a row and 11 of 12. The Suns are coming off back-to-back wins over the Jazz. Devin Booker had 33 points in a 115-109 victory over the Jazz in Phoenix. He had 43 points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday’s 105-97 victory in Salt Lake City. Chris Paul was sensational in the first game, posting 27 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists. Deandre Ayton is considered day-to-day after missing the past five games with a sprained ankle. Ayton has missed a total of 19 games this season. He is averaging 16.8 points and 10.6 rebounds.
2. Golden State Warriors (36-13)

The Warriors have won four in a row and six of eight with victories over the Bulls, Pistons, Rockets, Jazz, Mavericks and Timberwolves. Stephen Curry looked more like himself against Minnesota, making 10 of 20 from the field and 6 of 10 from 3-point range to finish with 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Klay Thompson had his best game yet since his return, posting 23 points, five rebounds and four assists while making 9 of 16 from the field and 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. We felt Rudy Gobert deserved the nod as an All-Star Game starter over Andrew Wiggins, but Wiggins has been terrific, too, averaging 18.1 points while shooting a career-high 40.4% from 3-point range.

5. Philadelphia 76ers (29-19)
Last week: 6
Philadelphia has won three in a row and 13 of 16 behind the MVP-caliber play of Joel Embiid. There’s no question the 76ers are on a roll, but how far can they go? 23. New Orleans Pelicans (18-29)
Last week: 26
