Mavericks star Luka Doncic posted his sixth 40-point game of the season and nearly recorded a triple-double in a win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, but his status against the Kings is in question.

The Mavericks are listing Doncic as questionable for Saturday’s game against the Kings at American Airlines Center due to a left toe sprain. Sterling Brown (illness) and Trey Burke (shoulder) are also questionable. Marquese Chriss (knee), Tim Hardaway Jr. (foot), Maxi Kleber (ankle) and Theo Pinson (finger) are out.

The Kings are again listing center Richaun Holmes as questionable against the Mavericks after he missed the past five games due to back soreness. Holmes, who moved into a backup role when the Kings traded for Domantas Sabonis, has not appeared in a game since before the All-Star break.

The Kings (24-41) are coming off of a 115-112 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday. They have won two of their last three games, but they trail the New Orleans Pelicans by 3 ½ games for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.

The Mavericks (38-25) are fifth in the West after winning three in a row and nine of their last 11. They are 2 ½ games behind the Utah Jazz for the No. 4 seed. The Mavericks will face the Jazz on Monday in a game that could determine which team gets homecourt advantage in a potential first-round playoff series.

Doncic out

During his pregame news conference, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said Doncic and Hardaway will be out against the Kings. Doncic is averaging 27.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists. Hardaway is averaging 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Holmes in, Lamb out

Interim Kings coach Alvin Gentry said Holmes’ status for Saturday’s game would again be a game-time decision. About 30 minutes before tipoff, the Kings announced Holmes would be available, but Jeremy Lamb had been ruled out due to left hip soreness.
