Kings partner with Alex Len, Raptors’ Svi Mykhailiuk to support Hope for Ukraine Fund
The Sacramento Kings have launched an initiative to promote and support the Hope for Ukraine Fund, a joint fundraising venture led by Kings center Alex Len, Toronto Raptors forward Svy Mykhailiuk and Len-D A Hand Foundation.
In addition to providing financial support, the Kings announced they will use their social media channels and billboards across the Sacramento region to raise awareness and encourage fans to contribute.
The Hope for Ukraine Fund was established to help Ukrainian citizens affected by the war with Russia. Fundraising efforts are focused on purchasing and delivering medical supplies to hospitals throughout central Ukraine; supporting humanitarian efforts providing relief to Ukraine, including supplies of food, clothing, household essentials and shelter for displaced families; and aiding refugees who have left or are leaving Ukraine.
“As of today, over 12 million Ukrainian civilians have been displaced from their homes and more than 6 million people — mainly women and children — have been forced to leave Ukraine,” Len said in a news release. “We feel we must utilize our platform to help these people, our people. I appreciate the continued support of my teammates and the entire Kings organization as we work to bring relief to my homeland.”
Len and Mykhailiuk, the only Ukrainian players in the NBA, created the Hope for Ukraine Fund to offer hope and support to the people of Ukraine. Their long-term goal is to aid in the rebuilding of sports and community infrastructure. When the situation stabilizes, the Hope For Ukraine Fund will begin to assist where possible in the rebuilding process.
