Sacramento Kings unveil California Classic summer league roster. Here’s who is on the team
The Sacramento Kings unveiled their preliminary summer league roster for the California Classic on Wednesday.
The team will be coached by new Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez. The roster will feature rookie first-round draft pick Keegan Murray and second-year center Neemias Queta. The team also includes Elijah Brown — the son of new Kings coach Mike Brown — who played at Butler, New Mexico, Oregon and the G League.
The California Classic will be held July 2-5 at Chase Center in San Francisco after being held in Sacramento in previous years. The Kings will play the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, the Miami Heat on Sunday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
Kings fans will get their first glimpse of Murray, a 6-foot-8 forward from Iowa who was chosen with the No. 4 pick in last week’s NBA draft. Fans will also get to see more of Queta, the first NBA player from Portugal. Queta’s status was in question due to his pending free agency, but the Kings have tendered a two-way qualifying offer, according to Spotrac’s Keith Smith.
The roster features several players who helped the Kings win the Las Vegas Summer League championship a year ago. The 14-man roster includes guards Frankie Ferrari, DJ Steward, Matt Coleman, Keon Ellis and Alex O’Connell; forwards Ade Murkey, Murray, Elijah Brown, Jai Smith, Jared Rhoden, and Jeriah Horne; and centers Nate Sestina and Queta.
