The Kings could be a little shorthanded when they face the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at Footprint Center.

Rookie forward Keegan Murray and center Richaun Holmes are considered questionable for Sacramento’s third preseason game. Both players are suffering from non-COVID-19 illnesses, the team said.

Murray, who led the Kings in scoring in preseason wins over the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers, did not participate in Tuesday’s practice. Kings coach Mike Brown said Murray was not expected to travel to Phoenix with the team Tuesday afternoon. However, Brown said Murray would be reevaluated later Tuesday and again Wednesday, leaving open the possibility of him joining the team in time for the game.

Murray, who came out of Iowa as the No. 4 pick in June’s NBA draft, had 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds and two steals in a 105-75 victory over the Lakers on Oct. 3. Murray had 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting with three rebounds and two steals in Sunday’s 126-94 win over the Blazers. He is shooting 70.6% from the field and 70% from 3-point range in preseason play.

Holmes had a strong preseason opener against the Lakers, posting 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds in 16 minutes as a reserve. Holmes missed three days of practice and Sunday’s game against the Blazers due to a stomach ailment.

Holmes returned to practice Tuesday but left before the session ended, saying he didn’t feel well. The Kings said it was uncertain if Holmes would accompany the team to Phoenix.
