Video: Gary Gerould gets ‘G-Man’ jersey No. 3,000, named Defensive Player of the Game
Since his first Kings’ game in 1985, legendary play-by-play man Gary Gerould has been the radio voice of the Sacramento Kings through the ups and downs.
He’s been counting the buckets for 38 seasons and 3,000 games.
In a loud locker room celebration, the team gave Gerould a custom “G-Man” jersey — No. 3,000 — and a ball autographed by each player at the end of its 124-115 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Oklahoma.
“It was mind blowing,” Gerould told The Sacramento Bee. “Communication’s important on defense so I get the defensive player of the game chain draped around me. ... It just absolutely blew my mind.”
