The honors and accolades keep coming for Kings center Domantas Sabonis as the Kings close in on their first playoff berth since 2006.

Sabonis was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second week in a row. Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Sabonis averaged 22.8 points, 16.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists in four games last week, leading the Kings to a 3-1 record. Embiid averaged 35.0 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks to help the 76ers go 3-0. Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox was among other nominees for the Player of the Week award in the West.

Sabonis becomes the first player in Kings franchise history to receive three Player of the Week awards in a single season. He is also the first player in franchise history to win consecutive Player of the Week awards.

Sabonis, a three-time All-Star, is averaging 19.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists in his seventh NBA season out of Gonzaga. He is currently on pace to join Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to average at least 19.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists while shooting 60% from the field.

Sabonis is leading the NBA in rebounds per game, total rebounds (850) and double-doubles (57). He is second in triple-doubles (11), trailing only two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.

Sabonis recorded two triple-doubles last week. He posted 23 points, 17 rebounds and 15 assists in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. He had 14 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over the Chicago Bulls. Sabonis put up 24 points and 21 rebounds in Thursday’s victory over the Brooklyn Nets and just missed another triple-double in Saturday’s win over the Washington Wizards, finishing with 30 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists.
