Kings center Neemias Queta has been ruled out for the remainder of Las Vegas Summer League after medical tests revealed the extent of the injury he suffered Monday night.

A league source told The Sacramento Bee Queta would miss the rest of summer league as the Kings prepared to play the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday at Cox Pavilion. A short time later, the team announced that an MRI revealed a stress reaction and a metatarsal capsule sprain in Queta’s right foot.

Queta sustained the injury during Monday’s 80-70 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at Thomas & Mack Center. He limped off the floor with 6:06 to play in the first half. He immediately went back to the locker room for treatment.

Queta did not return for the start of the second half and was ruled out a short time later. It wasn’t clear exactly when Queta was injured. He appeared to be in some discomfort for several possessions early in the second quarter and came away with a pronounced limp after battling for a defensive rebound with just over six minutes remaining in the half.

Queta is one the biggest question marks remaining on the Kings’ roster as they move deeper into the summer with some uncertainty surrounding the 7-foot center from Portugal. The Kings extended a $2.02 million qualifying offer to Queta on June 29, making him a restricted free agent.

The Kings selected Queta out of Utah State with the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He spent the past two seasons with the Kings on two-way contracts.

Queta was runner-up for the G League MVP award with the Stockton Kings last season, but he hasn’t received much of an opportunity at the NBA level.

Queta had a chance to audition for all 30 teams in Las Vegas in hopes of receiving a standard NBA contract, but now his summer is over.
