Former Kings guard Jimmer Fredette will return to Sacramento to compete in the second annual 3x3 International Cup from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Golden 1 Center.

Fredette will represent USA Basketball’s Team Miami in the 3-on-3 tournament, which will feature some of the best 3x3 teams in the United States along with top international teams to be announced at a later date.

Teams will be vying for cash prizes and a spot on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, the highest level of the sport’s professional circuit. The winning team will earn a $3,000 cash prize.

“The 3x3 International Cup showcases the excitement, electricity and entertainment of 3x3 basketball, and we are proud to be hosting it again this year,” Kings president of business operations John Rinehart said in a news release. “We are excited to make Sacramento a must stop on the 3x3 tour displaying the competition and incredible skill of the games.”

FIBA 3x3 is a version of 3-on-3 basketball that will be featured at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Team Sacramento, the winner of last year’s event, will return to defend its crown. The team consists of Mark Payne, Drake U’u, Reggie Willhite and New Williams.

Other top teams will include Princeton and Team Omaha as well as teams representing Los Angeles and Nashville. The winning team will earn an all-expenses paid trip to Chengdu, China to compete in a FIBA 3x3 Masters event with more than $125,000 in prize money.

The event will feature 12 games during the group stage and seven games in the knockout round along with a slam dunk contest.

General admission tickets for the 12-team tournament can be purchased for $20 at Golden1Center.com/3x3InternationalCup. Limited courtside tickets are also available with access to Row One Club, which includes complimentary food and beverages.
