Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox named to player pool for 2024 Paris Olympics

Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox is one of 41 players who have been named to the player pool for the 2024 U.S. Olympic team.

USA Basketball unveiled the list Tuesday as chosen by Grant Hill, the managing director for the U.S. Men’s National Team. Twelve players will be selected to represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The player pool features the likes of Devin Booker, Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Jayson Tatum. Other top NBA stars include Paolo Banchero, Scottie Barnes, Mikal Bridges, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell and Jrue Holiday.

“The United States boasts unbelievable basketball talent and I am thrilled that many of the game’s superstars have expressed interest in representing our country at the 2024 Olympic Summer Games,” Hill said in a news release. “It is a privilege to select the team that will help us toward the goal of once again standing atop the Olympic podium. This challenging process will unfold over the next several months as we eagerly anticipate the start of national team activity.”

The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team will be led by Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr. His coaching staff will include Gonzaga coach Mark Few, Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue and Miami Heat coach Eric Spoelstra.

Fox, 26, came out of Kentucky as the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He is averaging a career-high 27.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.6 assists while shooting a career-best 39.4% from 3-point range.

Fox earned All-Star and All-NBA Third Team selections for the first time last season while leading the Kings to their first playoff appearance since 2006. Sacramento won 48 games to secure the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, ending the longest playoff drought in league history after 16 consecutive losing seasons.
