Sacramento Kings hire Quinton Crawford as G League coach; sign free agent Terry Taylor

Quinton Crawford spent one season with the Sacramento Kings as an assistant video coordinator early in his coaching career. Now, he’s returning to lead the organization’s G League affiliate.

A league source told The Sacramento Bee the Kings are hiring Crawford as head coach of the G League Stockton Kings. Crawford replaces 2024 G League Coach of the Year Lindsey Harding, who left the Kings in July to join JJ Redick’s staff with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In other news Friday, the Kings signed Terry Taylor, a 24-year-old free agent wing, to a training camp deal.

Crawford, 33, is a native of New Jersey who played at Middlesex County College before transferring to Arizona. Crawford was a part of the Arizona team that went to the Sweet 16 under former coach Sean Miller in 2013.

Crawford spent two years at Pepperdine as a graduate manager and video coordinator. He worked as an assistant video coordinator with the Kings, Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic before Frank Vogel hired him as an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019.

Crawford was part of a championship team with the Lakers in 2020. He served as head coach of the Lakers’ summer league team in 2021. Crawford worked as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks in 2022-23 and the Phoenix Suns in 2023-24.

Kings sign Taylor

NBA insider Chris Haynes reported the Kings have reached an agreement with Taylor on a training camp deal.

Taylor as a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year at Austin Peay. He spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Bulls, where he averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.1 minutes per game last season.

Taylor is 6-foot-5 with a 6-11 wingspan. He logged 65% of his minutes at power forward and 35% at center last season, according to Basketball Reference.
