Kings star guard De’Aaron Fox has been playing with his pinkie and ring finger taped together on his left shooting hand throughout the early portion of the season.

On Saturday following an overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors, Fox said he dislocated his pinkie during an early training camp practice and had X-rays that returned negative. The injury has not healed, he said.

“(It’s) probably a ligament,” Fox told The Sacramento Bee.

Fox has said the injury would likely take a month to fully recover from, but he plans to continue to play through it, much like when Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis had similar hand injuries in 2022. Sabonis had an avulsion fracture on his right thumb.

Fox on Saturday missed all 11 of his 3-point attempts, including an airball seconds before time expired in the 131-128 overtime loss. He also had five turnovers.

“I wouldn’t change anything,” Fox said of his shot selection. “Especially the last one. I got an open look, and it didn’t come off right.”

Fox continued: “I can’t say (the finger) is the reason. I’ve had games where I’ve shot it well and I’ve had games where I haven’t. I just got to get used to.”

Fox said the injury hasn’t gotten worse while playing with it. He was shooting 37% from 3 (11 for 30) before missing all 11 attempts Saturday. He was coming off a 4-for-6 performance from deep during the win Friday night in Atlanta.

Fox and the Kings will finish their first road trip of the season Monday in Miami, where they hope to improve to 4-3 after their three-game winning streak was snapped.
