NBA issues hefty fines following fiery finish between Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings
The NBA has levied $100,000 in fines against three members of the Houston Rockets for their actions at the end of a wild 120-111 loss to the Kings on Tuesday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Joe Dumars, the NBA’s executive vice president and head of basketball operations, announced Rockets coach Ime Udoka, forward Tari Eason and center Alperen Sengun have been fined $50,000, $35,000 and $15,000, respectively.
Udoka was fined $50,000 for confronting and directing profane language toward a game official, failing to leave the court in a timely manner after being ejected and public criticism of an official during his postgame press conference.
Eason was fined $35,000 for throwing a towel and directing inappropriate language in the direction of a fan in the spectator stands after the game ended.
Sengun was fined $15,000 for directing inappropriate language towards a game official.
The Rockets were trailing by 14 when Udoka and Sengun were ejected with 1:52 to play in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s game. Udoka, who felt Sengun had been fouled seconds earlier, went after official John Goble and had to be restrained.
Udoka was still furious when he addressed the situation after the game.
“Blatant missed calls right in front of you,” Udoka said. “You’re calling ticky-tack moving screens and little s--- like that and then you don’t want to call the obvious ones right in front of you, so that was it. Alpy got fouled a few times on that drive, on the layup, and they didn’t want to call it. I told him get some f---ing glasses, open your eyes.”
